Progress on the MDGs

For many, Easter is a time of reflection, and so we wanted to share a reflection on progress that the world is making towards the Millennium Development Goals from the UK's Department for International Development.

September 2011 saw the UN General Assembly host MDG Countdown 2011: Celebrating successes and innovations. UK Secretary of State for International Development Andrew Mitchell and USAID Administrator Raj Shah came together to celebrate the significant progress being made towards achieving the goals.

The clip released from the event charts the successes made across all 8 MDGs since they were first proposed at the Millennium Summit 11 years ago - with some of the most significant successes including: 1.8 billion people gaining access to safe drinking water and over 11 African countries showing a 50% drop in the number of malaria cases. The video reminds us that change on an immense scale has been achieved, but that in the run up to 2015 the momentum must not be slowed. We must continue to strive towards change; to achieve those remaining targets and to continue to save lives.

This universal heatlh coverage is very good as it will help the poor countries to assist those with poor heatlh. this plan is a very good idea and it will be good for it to be adopted fast as the World's population keeps decreasing daily

Kundu: This country is being miseld by people like you who are not protesting them who are selling this country to India and doing familiarization with India. In the name of greatness, in the name of non-political view what you are doing? You are pampering those bastards who are destroying our country's sovereignty. This is not greatness. It is cowardliness and dalali . You are trying to overlook a matter which is slowly destroying our country's individual self. Why these? Why this sympathy for India? Why trying to portrait Indian dalali as a good thing?Who doesn't know that awame league is a Dalal of India. Even each BAL member knows that very well. Everyone knows what BAL is doing and how they are making familiarize BD with India. You are eating in this country. You born in this country. You living in this country. Then why you are trying to prove that this matter is light and we should take it lightly? Why you are supporting India eating in this country? Isn't it called cheating with your own country?
