Skills-based Volunteering Opportunities

The Global Poverty Project provides valuable opportunities for you to utilise your skills and competencies in contributing to the movement to end extreme poverty.

We welcome people with skills from diverse backgrounds. Due to the dynamic nature of our work, our organisational needs are continually changing. We accept volunteers with specialised skill sets, at our discretion, who are enthusiastic and committed to social justice.

You will possess a number of years of work experience in areas such as legal, finance, events management, media, marketing, etc. We do not have a formal programme for skills-based volunteers, and instead take them on board on an ad-hoc basis, to align with organisational needs.

About You

You will need to demonstrate your competencies and show how you have used your initiative and team work skills during your career and/or other commitments. We look for people who illustrate a genuine passion and commitment for social justice and aid and development.

The competencies we look for are:

  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills;
  • Good organisational and time management skills;
  • Strong technical proficiency in your chosen field(s);
  • Solid experience and ability to manage and coordinate projects;
  • Ability to work autonomously;
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines;
  • Leadership and coaching skills (desirable);
  • Demonstrated experience in team management and business development (desirable).
